Course Description
Investigate each stage of the marketing process, from identifying and choosing your target market to providing customers with items that add value to their lives to finally selling and distributing your finished product to customers.
Course Introduction
You are going to learn about the several marketing decisions a company must make in order to sell its products and services, in addition to the process of marketing itself. You will also learn how to think like a marketer, and the greatest marketers realise that the customer has always been the primary focus of marketing. This is something that you will learn. You will begin to take into consideration the features of the customer, as well as their wants and preferences. The core of good marketing is an understanding of how to communicate with customers. The four components that make up marketing are the creation of products and services that are beneficial to customers, the communication of a distinct value proposition, the delivery of products and services in a manner that maximises value, and the transaction of value in exchange for products and services.

Course Learning Outcomes
You will be able to do the following if you have successfully completed this course:
- Provide an explanation of the differences between marketing, advertising, and sales, as well as outline the key marketing principles and vocabulary.
- Explain product strategy, including the ideas of product life cycle, positioning, and pricing; describe the method of doing market research; describe the pricing concept; describe the process of conducting market research;
- Explain what competitive analysis is, and then define competition.
- Examine the steps involved in the distribution process and provide an explanation of the various marketing channels;
- Find out what the most important aspects of product advertising are;
- Elucidate the process of establishing a marketing strategy as well as the role that marketing theory plays in the formulation of such a plan; as well as explain the role that social media plays in the whole process of integrated marketing communications.

Evaluation and Minimum Passing Score
Only your performance on the final test will be used towards your overall mark for this class. You will need to get a score of 70 or better out of 100 on the final examination in order to pass this class. Your final score on the test will be determined as soon as you have finished taking it. If you do not pass the test on your first attempt, you are allowed to retake it an unlimited number of times, but there is a waiting period of one week in between each attempt. After you have completed and passed the final test with flying colours, you will be eligible to get a complimentary Course Completion Certificate.
This course also includes examinations at the conclusion of each individual subject. These are meant to serve as study aids for you, and will not be counted against your overall grade in the class. You are free to take these tests as often as you want until you are certain that you have a solid grasp of the principles and information that are being taught. Earning College Credit
Through Saylor Academy's Direct Credit Program, students who successfully complete this course may be able to earn college credit. You have to take and do well on the Direct Credit final test if you want to get college credit for what you've done. This test will need a proctor and will be accessible only with a password. You will be able to acquire a Proctor Verified Course Certificate and become eligible to earn an official transcript if you are successful in passing the Direct Credit test. The Direct Credit final test may be retaken after a waiting time of 14 calendar days in between each attempt. You will only be allowed a maximum of three chances to pass each final test for Direct Credit. Make sure you give yourself time to study in between tests!
